MISSION

To provide support to families and young women who are living independently and provide young women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to family breakdown, domestic and family violence, neglect, trauma, child abuse, disengagement with education, misuse of drugs and alcohol, mental health issues and interaction with the justice system.

ABOUT

Netta's place was birthed from Pastor Yolanda Douthit's desire to remember the legacy of her sister cousin Johnnetta Smith. Johnetta untimely passing left a mark on her heart and she wanted to make sure that her legacy left a mark on the earth. Johnnetta was a loyal, kind person who often "saved" many lives with her unconditional love and generous heart.  The fragrance of Johnnetta's life was as beautiful as she was. She was a loyal and supportive person that enjoyed spending time with those she loved.  She took pleasure in being the hands and feet of God by serving others. The light of her love mothered many throughout her life. She was a peacemaker who had a knack for solving problems. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was driven to have the best and she did not mind sharing it. And Pastor Yolanda birthed "Netta's Place" to emulate her generosity and the light of this "rare jewel,"

FIRST RECIPIENT OF NETTA'S PLACE, A SAFE RESCUE

Picture
Tamara Bass is the first recipient as a resident of Netta's Place. Tamara was a resident of New York City and was in need of a transition from a home life that didn't allow her to focus, it was not conducive to her mental, spiritual and emotional well being. So Pastor Yolanda met with partners of The Sanctuary Ministries and devised a plan. Melanie N. paid for a flight for Tamara to leave New York in 7 days, Kimberly M. opened her home for her to live and Deidre D. provided leads to a new job that she started within a month of moving to North Carolina.  And The Sanctuary and it's partners provided resources that allowed her to  usher in new beginnings in a safe rescue.

It took a village and Tamara is now thriving in Netta's Place.

Tamara's New Beginnings

The Sanctuary and it's partners came together to make sure that Tamara had a new space especially designed by Pastor Yolanda to begin her new life. Take a look at Tamara's Safe Rescue.
